Pole saw
A pole saw is essential when working in a storm felled or damaged forest, since it increases the distance between the operator and the tree. Distance is particularly important when working with trees or branches under tension or in situations where the escape route is difficult.
The pole saw is used to release the final tension of the tree after most of the cut has been done by the chainsaw. Since it releases the tension from a safer distance for the operator, the pole saw is often thought of as a kind of remote shutter release.
Using a pole saw correctly – and safely, requires the proper training and experience. Safety first – always!
There are many types of pole saws available, including hand operated and petrol or battery powered.
